Waiting near Lisnave

High tide and low tide, day and night, precise rhythms, incomprehensible and yet very clear. They stand out, here at this location.

In the ship repair workshop stands Safmarine Kuramo from Singapore. The ship that we liked so much in its weathered state has unfortunately been filled in in the mean time.

We photograph at night and in the early morning. After that we stay for a while and spend the Sunday watching the workers over there in Lisnave, fascinated how fast they progress. Only half a day and they completely repainted the hull of the boat!

With us however it is standstill. We want to realise the photography by the big sea vessel and are trying since three weeks to get permission.
At the XXI Terminal in Sines, with the containerships that have a capacity of up to over 7000 containers, where oodles of goods are being transferred, we had to accept that the stay of a family of four with their piece of living furniture would probably go beyond the scope of the possible.
Also at the port authority of Setúbal enthusiasm for our intention keeps within limits. I am sent from one person to the next and like that at least I am learning Portuguese.
And at the latest attempt on Friday afternoon everyone seems to just want to leave their desks and go home. I am asked to come back on Monday.

Like that we stay in Lisnave for the weekend and marvel at what is possible, if only one wants...
